The feet or legs of a sofa contribute to its overall aesthetic and can also impact its functionality (exposed can be easier to clean). When shopping for sofas, consider the following: Exposed or covered legs? Metal or wood legs? Short or tall legs?

FABRIC

Do you have kids, pets, allergies? Consider factors like comfort, durability, and how easy it is to clean when selecting the upholstery. We never recommend a pure white sofa although people always look for it; if you want white, look for a color like oatmeal or something with a texture or weave. 

FUNCTION

Are you looking to seat a lot of people for a party setting, or for watching tv facing a wall? Do you need extra space for guests? A sectional sofa can be great for large living rooms, but we also love a U-shaped sofa for groups or bigger families. A sleeper sofa is practical for hosting guests.

As you start shopping, measure the space where the sofa will go. Consider the dimensions, including width, depth, and height. A tip to ensure the sofa will fit comfortably in your living room without overwhelming the space is to tape out the dimensions on the floor.
